BSV

BSV/USD

The Bitcoin SV (BSV) network will complete the Quasar upgrade on July 24, which will increase the default block size hard cap from 128MB to 2GB. After a few months of the upgrade, the cryptocurrency will be able to handle thousands of transactions every second. DRIVE Markets has launched trading in Bitcoin SV. Backed by these positive news, the digital currency has turned out as the top performer among major cryptocurrencies. It has rallied close to 25% in the past seven days. Can it continue its up move or will it witness profit booking at higher levels? Let’s analyze the chart.

BSV/USD

The BSV/USD pair broke below the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level of the rally this week, but lower levels saw sharp buying that has propelled the price right back up. This is a positive sign as it confirms demand at lower levels. The price can now reach $214.210 and above it $255.620. If the bulls propel the price to a new high, the uptrend will continue.

However, after forming large ranges in the past two weeks, we expect the volatility to cool down and the pair to enter a consolidation for a few weeks. The pair will turn negative if the price turns around from one of the overhead resistances and plummets below $107. Nonetheless, we give it a low probability of occurring.

XTZ/USD

Tezos (XTZ) is the second-best performer of the past seven days, rising close to 20%. Can it build on its momentum and start a new uptrend? Let’s see the chart.

XTZ/USD

The XTZ/USD pair is largely range-bound between $0.33 and $1.85. For the past three weeks, the bulls have managed to defend $0.902128, which is the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement of the recent rally. The bulls have not been able to push the price above $1.295480, which shows profit-booking at higher levels. Both moving averages are flat and the RSI is close to 50, which suggests that the digital currency might consolidate for a few more weeks.

If the pair breaks out of $1.295480, it can rally to $1.85. A breakout of $1.85 will start a new uptrend that has a long-term target objective of $3.37. Therefore, traders can buy on a close (UTC time frame) above $1.295480 and keep a stop loss of $0.80.

Our bullish view will be invalidated if the price reverses direction from $1.295480 and plummets below $0.829651. If that happens, a drop to $0.33 is probable.

TRX/USD

Tron (TRX) CEO Justin Sun tweeted that something big will happen next week along with the Warren Buffet lunch. Sun has invited influential people in the crypto universe to join him for the power lunch with the legendary investor. The crypto community has kept its fingers crossed on the outcome of the meeting.

TRX/USD

The TRX/USD pair had broken down of the channel last week. Though bears broke below the critical support of $0.022 during the week, they could not sustain the price at lower levels. Aggressive buying has propelled the price back into the channel. This is a positive sign.

There is a minor resistance at the downtrend line above which the pair can move up to $0.040. A breakout of this resistance can push the price to $0.050. The traders can wait for the price to scale above the downtrend line before buying. The stop loss can be kept at $0.020 because if this support gives way, a drop to $0.017740 and below it a retest of the yearly low is probable.

LTC/USD

Litecoin (LTC) was recently named as the official cryptocurrency of the Miami Dolphins. This will increase the visibility of the cryptocurrency among NFL fans. With halving just a few days away, can the price resume its uptrend or will it remain range-bound? Let’s find out.

LTC/USD

After failing to break out of the ascending channel a few weeks ago, the LTC/USD pair plummeted below the channel last week. The bears followed it up with a breakdown of the support at $83.65. However, they could not sustain the lower levels and the price has quickly bounced back. This shows strong demand at lower levels.

Currently, the bulls are facing resistance at the channel line. This line, which had previously acted as a support is likely to act as a resistance. Nevertheless, if the price climbs back into the channel, it will be a positive sign. The next level to watch on the upside is $140.3450. Therefore, traders can wait for the price to re-enter the channel and sustain it before buying. The stop loss can be kept at the recent lows of $76.

Our bullish view will be invalidated if the price turns down from the channel and plunges below $76. In such a case, a drop to $58 is probable.

ATOM/USD

Cosmos (ATOM) rallied close to 5% in the past seven days. Is this the start of a new uptrend or is this only a pullback in a downtrend. Let’s study the chart.

ATOM/USD

Due to a short trading history, we are analyzing the daily charts for the ATOM/USD pair. The pair has given up a lot of ground in the recent correction. It is currently attempting to bounce off the $3.6043–$3.4101 support zone.

The pullback is likely to face resistance at the 20-day EMA. The next fall towards the support zone will give us a better idea whether the bottom is in place. If the price breaks below $3.4101 during the next fall, it can retest the lows at $2.9277.

Conversely, if the pair rebounds off the support zone and breaks out of the 20-day EMA, it is likely to reach the 50-day SMA and above it $6.15. Therefore, traders can watch the price action during the next fall and buy on a breakout above 20-day EMA. The stops can be placed below $3.40.

OKB/USD*

OKB is the native token of OKEx, a world-leading cryptocurrency exchange. It is trading well above its listing price. The token offers its users opportunities to set up OKEx partner exchanges, settle trading fees and subscribe to new tokens sale on the OK jumpstart platform.

The total supply of OKB is 1 billion, out of which only 300 million is in circulation and the rest has been locked up until 2022. The long-term hodlers of the token will benefit from the OKB Buy-Back & Burn Program, which will be run every 3 months. Currently, the token is operating on the ERC-20 protocol but will soon migrate to the OKChain mainnet – being developed by OKEx — which is in its final stages of testing.

In its evaluation report, Shinobi Capital, an established blockchain and cryptocurrency advisory firm, expects OKB to benefit from the development of OKChain mainnet and better market conditions for cryptocurrencies. They expect OKB to hit a market capitalization of about $7.068 billion by 2020.

OKB has been listed on Bitfinex and is attempting to partner with other exchanges to further expand the ecosystem. At press time, the token is ranked 1,878 on CoinMarketCap with a 24-hour volume of $142,547,972. So, is this a good opportunity to scoop OKB before prices shoot up? Let’s look at the technical picture.

OKB/USD

The OKB/USD pair hit a high of $6.68 on May 18, 2018, and from there, it lost a lot of ground during the crushing bear market and fell to a low of $0.5718 on January 13, 2019. However, it participated in the recovery and rose to a high of $2.5566 on April 3. That is a 347% gain within three months.

Thereafter, the pullback found support at the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level of the up-move. It consolidated between $1.30 and $1.829 for a few days before breaking out. It again got stuck in the $1.55–$2.09 range for a few days.

Currently, the price has broken out of the range and is likely to move up to $2.5566, which will act as a stiff resistance. If this level is scaled, the price can move up to $4 and above it to $5.40. Both moving averages are gradually sloping up, which suggests that bulls have the upper hand.

However, if bears defend $2.5566, the digital currency might remain range-bound between $2.09 and $2.5566 for a few days. It will lose momentum on a break below the 50-day SMA and will turn negative on a breakdown of $1.2616.

Asia Pacific’s First Tokenomics Research Center Opens in Taiwan 26718

Flowchain Tokenomics Research Center opened in National Tsing Hua University located in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, on September 6, 2019. With the cooperation of Professor Chuan-Hsiang Han of the Department of Quantitative Finance at National Tsing Hua University, Flowchain aims to build a Tokenomics Research Center to conduct macro and micro models in the tokenized world using evidence-based research.

Tokenomics is a term used to describe the study of the design of a cryptocurrency and its related virtual assets to build the ecosystem around that specific token. In order to ensure the reliability of participants’ behaviors, it combines elements of the study of economic incentives, game theory, cryptography, behavioral psychology, and computer science.

To conduct a reliable and valid model for tokenomics, Flowchain Tokenomics Research Center first used FlowchainCoin (FLC) as an indicator. Jollen Chen, Flowchain’s founder and CEO, initially found it challenging to explain the trading patterns of virtual assets by using the economic models of traditional financial assets. Law enforcement agencies are also unable to analyze and respond to crimes related to virtual assets without specific standards. Consequently, the security and stability of blockchain economics development cannot be guaranteed.

Flowchain, therefore, attempts to use algorithms to build a tokenomics model of trading strategies to prevent scams by tapping into the combination of the team’s experiences in issuing FLC and Professor Han’s background in economics. “Blockchain technology is primarily known from cryptocurrency applications, including token issuing. The goal is that through the Flowchain Tokenomics Research Center, we can create a better tokenomics ecology for Flowchain using rigorous academic research methodologies. Also, with the hope of a successful transformation and development for Taiwan’s tokenomics industries, I anticipate sharing our experiences and future results with them.” said Jollen.

Flowchain is also seeking additional cooperation opportunities with professionals and academics at research universities in other geographic locations overseas to build a comprehensive model.

Dash is launching on Coinbase Pro 27420

Dash

On Monday September 16, 2019, Coinbase Pro will begin accepting inbound transfers of DASH. Coinbase Pro will accept deposits for at least 12 hours prior to enabling full trading. Trading will begin on or after 9AM Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, September 17, if liquidity conditions are met.

Once sufficient supply of DASH is established on the platform, trading on the DASH/USD, and DASH/BTC order books will start in phases, beginning with post-only mode and proceeding to full trading should our metrics for a healthy market be met. Support for DASH will be immediately available in Coinbase’s supported jurisdictions, with the exception of New York State and the United Kingdom. Additional jurisdictions may be added at a later date.

Created in 2014, Dash is a cryptocurrency optimized for payments that has optional speed and privacy features. At this time, Coinbase will not support these features. Dash is accepted at over 4,000 merchants worldwide. Its unique network architecture consists of both regular miners and privileged machines called Masternodes. Through its off-chain community governance system, anyone can submit and vote on proposals to improve the ecosystem’s functionality, utility, and adoption.

Please note that DASH is not yet available on Coinbase.com or via our consumer mobile apps. We will make a separate announcement if and when this functionality is added.

The Stages of the DASH Launch

There will be four stages to the launch as outlined below. We will follow each of these stages independently for each new order book. If at any point one of the new order books does not meet our assessment for a healthy and orderly market, we may keep the book in one state for a longer period of time or suspend trading as per our Trading Rules.

Coinbase Pro will send tweets from our Coinbase Pro Twitter account as each order book moves through the following phases:

  1. Transfer-only. Starting on Monday September 16, customers will be able to transfer DASH into their Coinbase Pro account. Customers will not yet be able to place orders and no orders will be filled on these order books. Order books will be in transfer-only mode for approximately 12 hours. We will communicate the exact timing for this phase via Twitter closer to the date.
  2. Post-only. In the second stage, customers can post limit orders but there will be no matches (completed orders). Order books will be in post-only mode for a minimum of one minute.
  3. Limit-only. In the third stage, limit orders will start matching but customers are unable to submit market orders. Order books will be in limit-only mode for a minimum of ten minutes.
  4. Full trading. In the final stage, full trading services will be available, including limit, market, and stop orders.

One of the most common requests we receive from customers is to be able to trade more assets on our platform. Per the terms of our listing process, we anticipate supporting more assets that meet our standards over time.

Korea’s Union Mobile Launches ‘ELYNET’ Blockchain Project 28429

Korea

NY Union Mobile, which worked to become the fourth mobile carrier in Korea, has officially announced the launch of their blockchain project ‘ELYNET’. The project is designed to provide differentiated mobile services using blockchain technology while leaving behind regulatory hurdles for approval as a mobile network operator.

As a decentralized telecom project, ELYNET uses blockchain technology to make communication more efficient for users who currently rely on a single carrier for telecom service. Through ELYNET, users can freely use data communication services without the drawbacks of existing wireless carriers such as roaming fees and contracts. The ELYNET project effectively eliminates the need for expensive data centers for wireless communications, allowing users to enjoy superior telecom quality at dramatically lower costs.

The ELYNET team plans to use the application of distributed ledger technology to further expand the user base of parent company Union Mobile. “Most of the members of our project team have built their careers at existing mobile carriers, including LG U+, and we have received support from talented people who have worked at KPMG and Samsung for the design of the token economy”, said Union Mobile’s CEO Seyong Ro. “This will help us to realize our business. When users connect to the communications network through ELYNET’s own operating system, they can purchase data through ELyX, a token used in ELYNET’s ecosystem, and freely enjoy mobile data communication anywhere in the world without roaming fees or contracts.”

Trezor: New Bitcoin-Only Firmware Now Available 29410

Trezor

Trezor are thrilled to announce that the beta version of our new Bitcoin-only firmware is now available to download for both Trezor One and Trezor Model T. Trezor aim to introduce a stable version of Bitcoin-only firmware in the next month’s release. From now on, Trezor will be producing four different versions of firmware — regular (full altcoin support + U2F/WebAuthn) and Bitcoin-only, for both Trezor One and Model T.

Trezor have created a customized version of both our firmware and Wallet designed for everyone who supports the idea of Bitcoin. Every Bitcoin maximalist can now enjoy the Wallet interface with nothing else but Bitcoin. All the features of Trezor One and Model T available just the way you like it; Bitcoin only.

How to install Bitcoin-only firmware

Trezor recommend testing your recovery seed in a dry-run recovery before updating the firmware. It’s also essential to note that after installing Bitcoin-only firmware, all your other coins will disappear from the Wallet interface — but don’t worry! The private keys to your altcoins remain protected within your Trezor. The regular Trezor firmware is required to access your altcoins. You can swap between the regular firmware and Bitcoin-only firmware as many times as you like.

There are two ways of installing the Bitcoin-only firmware. You can use either Trezor Wallet or trezorctl (advanced users).

You will need:

  • Trezor Model T running version 2.1.0 or newer, or Trezor One
  • Access to Trezor Beta Wallet or trezorctl
  • The correct firmware installation file for your device — Trezor One or Trezor Model T

Installation process using Trezor Wallet:

  1. Visit https://beta-wallet.trezor.io/ and connect your Trezor.
  2. If you are using Trezor Model T and your firmware version is lower than 2.1.0, upgrade to the latest offered version via web-wallet first!
  3. Type “custom_firmware” after your Trezor device ID in the URL.
  4. Download the firmware installation file for your device (Trezor One, Trezor T) and click on “Choose File” to upload the firmware file.
  5. Trezor Wallet will then prompt you to initiate the firmware update process. Follow the instructions to load the firmware file on the device.

Image of the URL address in the second step.

Installation process using trezorctl:

  1. Download the correct file for your device.
  2. Put your device into bootloader mode and confirm a connection with a host on device.
  3. Launch Terminal and go to the folder with the firmware file.
  4. If you have a Model T, update the firmware by pasting
“trezorctl firmware-update -f trezor-2.1.5-bitcoinonly.bin” into the Terminal window and press enter. Confirm installation on the device.
If you have a Trezor One, update the firmware by pasting
“trezorctl firmware-update -f trezor-1.8.3-bitcoinonly.bin” into the Terminal and press enter. Confirm on the device.
  5. Create a new wallet via https://beta-wallet.trezor.io/

Thank you for testing the Bitcoin-only firmware. If you experience any issues or want to share your ideas with us, please send us your feedback here.

Thank you for being a part of the Trezor beta testing community.

Cryptocurrency futures exchange CoinFlex targets Asia traders with physical delivery of bitcoin contracts 27524

fsdhgf

New cryptocurrency futures exchange CoinFlex, which claims to be the world’s first exchange that offers physical delivery for bitcoin futures contracts, wants to ramp up business from Asian retail investors who want to avoid falling victim to price manipulation that it says is rampant in cash-settlement contracts.

Mark Lamb, Hong Kong-based chief executive of the company, said contracts that physically deliver bitcoin and other tokens at settlement will benefit traders, who can be certain the spot and futures prices have not been manipulated and that they closely track the spot bitcoin price. This is because cash-settlement contracts, whose price is often calculated using a formula based on the spot bitcoin prices of other exchanges, can be easily manipulated.

“Professional and retail traders alike are affected by price manipulation in the cash settled futures market. In physical delivered contracts, anyone long at expiry receives the underlying bitcoin. There are no formulas involved,” Lamb said.

He did not comment when asked if CoinFlex was offering services to Hong Kong-based customers. The city’s Securities and Futures Commission proposed a regulatory framework on cryptocurrency exchanges in November 2018, and has said it was unlikely to grant licences to exchanges that offered the trading of futures and derivative contracts.

Lamb said he had seen an increase in attempts to manipulate prices over the past few months, by traders who moved the underlying spot prices that go into the formula in their favour, as they took advantage of the thinner trading volume of the cryptocurrency spot market compared with that of futures. Currently, the trading volume of bitcoin futures is 1.5 times that of spot.
